IPKSA Summer News

SUMMER FUN.

After a fantastic season of events last year, hopefully we are all enjoying the glorious summer we are currently having! So what’s happening with the IPKSA???? A massive congratulations to our members Alan Watson & Colman Billings who travelled to the USA in July to compete in the Landsailing World Championships on the dry lake, at Smith Creek, Nevada. They are returning to our fair Isle with BRONZE medals for the Standart class and Colman Billings is also bringing back a bronze medal for the Manta Single class!  These are the first World Championship medals in over 30 years for Ireland. This was also Alan’s first championship in his new role as President of FISLY, the world governing body of our sport, Alan is no stranger to the odd Speech and on this occasion, like many others, received a standing ovation for his speech at the closing ceremony. Thanks guys, you have done the club and country proud, no doubt the party upon their return will be suitable for this great achievement!!!

Events on the horizion!

On Sunday 3rd August, 12noon to 5pm, we’ll be at the kite festival at Beinevina on the hill at Downhill overlooking Benone beach. We’ll be here to support the National Trust; we’ll have some kites flying, buggies to show off and smaller kites to try. On this occasion we’ll be joining Blokart world (.com) who have kindly let us join them to help  promote our sports. We hope to get some people interested in the sports and in joining the club. Please come along and join us at the kite festival to take advantage of our special membership offer!

To follow on from this we’ll be having our first event in Benone Strand, Co,L,Derry on the 6th & 7th September. this event will be training for our new member to come along, get training and tips on their chosen sport, or merely to try all them?!?! So, don’t forget to get 6th &7th of September into your diaries for our first event of the year, kitesurfing and power kite lessons are often £/€80plus per hour however  the club provides lessons for free to members. On the Sunday of the event will see the start of national series for the buggies. Not kit no problem, we have kites and landyachts to try. Here are the dates for next seasons events, get them in your diary!! Good winds and enjoy the summer.
